cowboy boots, western saddleThis past weekend I went up to a friend’s family ranch way outside the city with a couple of friends. The plan was to ride quads, horse, fish and just recharge the batteries out on a large piece of private property. The ranch is about 90 minutes away from where we all live in Los Angeles. This is the perfect distance to feel far away from city life. This weekend is one that I will never forget. The ranch sits on something like 50 acres so it isn’t massive but there is space to explore. Much of the land outside of their property lines is undeveloped and great to explore too. I don’t ride horses and opted out of strapping up the western saddle. The ATVs were more up my alley. A few of the other people who went chose to ride horses instead. Before we went on the first trip around the ranch, we outfitted ourselves in the extra cowboy boots, shirts, hats and belt buckles laying around his barn storage unit.

His family saves all of their old equipment after buying something like a new pair of cowboy boots or belt buckle online so over the years they’ve collected a lot of gear guests can use before throwing a leg over the western saddle. I had no need for the cowboy boots since I was going to ride a quad but this dress up opportunity was too great to miss. We spent a solid 30 minutes looking for different pieces of cowboy clothing lying around the barn. By the end, we each would have looked in place at the O.K. Corral. With a denim button up shirt, light jeans, an old hat, black cowboy boots and handkerchief, I felt like a gunslinger without a six-shooter.

One of the guys with us had a camera that we used for classic cowboy pictures. One of them I swung a lasso around my head outside the barn. My friend was able to pull himself backwards onto a western saddle secured on a smaller horse while he shaped his fingers into “hand” guns and pretended to shoot at a Wild West bad guy. When the weekend was over we all received copies of the photos in an email. Such a great time shouldn’t be forgotten. I’ve needed a new picture frame for some time and found the perfect answer browsing Jewelry Tack Room at http://www.jewelrytackroom.com/. The VIEWSONIC VFA710W-50 7" WIDESCREEN DIGITAL PICTURE FRAME pictured above can hold all of the cowboy pictures and then some in one simple place.
