I was so excited this past weekend when my nephew walked into the living room of his parent’s home to find a surprise birthday party for himself. His big gift was a western saddle that he’d asked for because he hoped that his parents would give him a horse. Once he saw the western saddle, he cheered because he thought for sure that it meant a horse was waiting in the wings somewhere, and his parents said that all they could afford was the western saddle, and that if they hadn’t found it online for such a great price, he wouldn’t have even had it. They told him he’d have to wait for the horse, and he seemed disappointed but tried not to let it show. The entire birthday theme was western and he found himself sporting a new pair of cowboy boots as well. At the end of the day, once everyone was gone his parents suggested they go for dinner. What he didn’t know is that we were all waiting at the stables where his new horse was waiting as well. You should have seen the look on his face. He was totally blown away and said it was the best birthday of his life.
